Buttercup Squash (Kabocha)
Aozora is a very large exporter of buttercup squash (kabocha). We export around 10,000 MT to Japan and Korea on an annual basis.
We spread our risk by sourcing squash from all three main growing regions – Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, and Manawatu. Through the company’s vertical integration with JB Squash, we have a guaranteed supply of top quality produce and a very competitive cost structure.
Due to our large export volume we also enjoy strong relationships with both reefer charter and container shipping lines, allowing us to offer a direct, weekly delivery service to our Japanese and Korean customers.
